#Empowered ~ Malala Yousafzai
Malala attended a school that her father had founded, and from a young age campaigned to allow young woman in Pakistan to receive an education. However when the Taliban found out about this defiance they issued an attack on her, which resulted in her surviving a bullet to the head from a gunman in 2012.
Since this traumatic and life changing experience she has gone on to achieve remarkable things. On her 16th birthday she gave a speech at the United Nations, wrote her autobiography and has even gone on to be the youngest person to receive a Nobel Peace Prize for her inspiring campaigning for educational rights for women & children.
Unfortunately she is still a big target for the Taliban, however this hasn’t stopped this courageous girl from changing the minds of women and men everywhere.
“Extremists have shown what frightens them most: A girl with a book.”
