Bell Hooks’ writings on women’s rights, race and oppression often mirrored the social activism she did throughout her life. Adopting her ‘pen name’ from her maternal grandmother, she has published over 30 books and scholarly articles, appeared in documentary films and lectured on the subject of feminism. Some of her notable works include ‘Ain’t I A Woman? Black Women and Feminism’ & ‘The Feminist Theory’.
