#Empowered ~ Barbara Walters
Barbara Walters first became known in the early 1960’s when she became a segment producer & writer of ‘women’s interest stories’ on The Today Show. She was the first female ‘co-host’ of any news show. At the time, despite earning 50% less than her male co-hosts, she became the first female co-anchor of an evening news broadcast for ABC New. From her career beginnings until today, Walters has paved the way for women in journalism, excelling in all her roles despite adversity for women in the industry.
“Work harder than everybody. You’re not going to get it by whining, and you’re not going to get it by shouting, and you’re not going to get it by quitting. You’re going to get it by being there.”
